Royalty-Free Music, Why the Heck Not?

Picture 4
Since I started making videos a couple of years ago, I’ve struggled with finding royalty-free tunes to use as background music. I WANT to just throw up pop songs, but YouTube has an automatic scanner that busts you and occasionally mutes your entire video.

Therefore, for many of my videos, I’ve painstakingly composed my own songs using GarageBand. Because it’s so hard to find songs, I thought I’d offer my original music to anyone who is making their own videos.

Feel free to download any of the
files I’ve posted on this page. I’d appreciate a credit and or/a link if you do end up using them. Happy video-making, folks!

KEVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seeing relatives after a long stretch of absence is such a lovely feeling. You tell them about your latest promotion, they whip out photos of the dog having a blast at the cottage last summer, you laugh when somebody reminisces about the silly things you used to say when you’re a kid.

Everything is bliss! The angels sing from on high! The trumpets blare! The lords a leap!
24 hours later, the homecoming honeymoon screeches to a halt.
After that, it’s back to ways of yore. Mom gets teary when you joke about her mushy brussels sprouts, sister chews with her mouth open, grandma tells the same story every hour, on the hour.
You know what this signals: time to medicate with the boob tube.
Thank goodness for Christmas movies.
My faves are:
Home Alone, The Claymation Rudolph, Little Women (Winona Ryder version), any interpretation of A Christmas Carol, One Magic Christmas and...clearly, Bill Murray’s SCROOGED.
Others you may wish to stock up on include:
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Picture 5
A Christmas Story
The Christmas Shoes
Elf
The Santa Clause
Bad Santa
A Very Brady Christmas
A Christmas Story
Prancer
The Grinch
It’s a Wonderful Life
Home for the Holidays
Die Hard
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Love, Actually
The Holiday
Gremlins
(Thanks to all my Facebook friends for contributing their picks!)
The cheesiest of all has to be Jingle All the Way starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and ... wait for it... SINBAD. I say this with bitterness because this movie, um..actually made me cry. For realz. Like, tears of true emotion and joy. And I hate myself for that.
What’s your favourite holiday movie? Have I missed anything? Talk to me!

And Take Extra Care When Buckling Up!

Nobody ever watches the safety video anymore, so those daring Kiwis at Air New Zealand decided to wear only body paint in theirs. Air Canada, dare you top that?

The Big PIcture: Flipping England

Canadian travel writer Reb Stevenson uses her Flip Camera to record the scenery in East Sussex, England.
Three things I love:
The English Countryside
A Nice Dollop of Sunshine
Sheep that Mind Their Own Business

Ultra2HDBlackFrontAndBack
This picture was taken last fall on the South Downs in Lewes, England. As you can see, I am eagerly recording some of the scenery with my teeny-tiny Flip Video Camera, which I use for all of my YouTube videos.
Speaking of which, Flip just released HD versions in Canada, which excites me tremendously. I’ve got myself the Flip Ultra HD, which I shall be testing out next week when I visit London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

...and nothing but tripe in the food court.

The Onion (a MOST reliable news source) reports that Prague’s Franz Kafka International Airport is the most alienating airport in the world. Love this.
